The Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservancy is seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual for a part-time winter/spring position as a Food and Finance Intern. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, young organization and help improve a premier public space.

Responsibilities

The intern will support the Greenway’s food vending program, which has been praised in Boston columns, articles, and editorials, as well as national press including Travel+Leisure, Time Out New York, and The Seattle Times. Example projects might include

  • Research best practices in parks and public spaces
  • Assist with planning for 2012 vending season
  • Support food truck meetup events

Additionally, the intern will work on analytical projects to support the Conservancy. Possible projects include:

  • Analyze data to understand maintenance costs
  • Research and benchmark the work of other parks and comparable organizations
  • Assist with various Finance Department special projects

Additionally, the intern may help with tasks such as volunteer coordination at an event or setup of a park program.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Current or former student at a college or university
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, including ability to succinctly summarize data
  • Strong communication skills
  • Internet research skills
  • Comfort working independently
  • Knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Interest in non-profit management, urban planning, finance, or other related field
  • Interest in food/vending a plus
  • Familiarity with Boston and the Greenway a plus

Logistics

  • The Food and Finance Intern will report to the Director of Business Operations.
  • A small daily stipend is offered.
  • The position is available starting immediately. Hours/days are flexible.
  • Work will generally take place in the Conservancy offices, but the position may require some time in the parks. It may be possible to do some project work remotely.
  • We can assist interested interns to receive academic credit.
