Maintenance Assistant

Position Description

The Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservancy currently seeks a full-time, non-exempt Maintenance Assistant as a member of the Maintenance Department.  This is a full-time, year round (5 days /40 hours a week), position.  The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday but may include some weekend and holiday work.  Benefits will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work safely in public parks to not endanger self or others.
  • Assist with repair tasks related to electrical, plumbing, fountains, furnishings and masonry as well as routine maintenance and care of the Greenway Parks.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner.
  • Represent the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy in a professional manner. 

Qualifications

Experience

  • Degree from a technical school preferred but relevant education, work experience or apprenticeship is acceptable.
  • One year minimum work experience in building or landscape construction.  
  • Masonry experience is a plus.
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license in good standing.

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather, kneel or stand for periods of time, and able to lift 100 pounds.
  • Demonstrate commitment to a positive public experience, and concern for the environment and people’s relationship to it.
  • The accepted candidate is required to successfully complete a CORI background check emphasizing their suitability to work with youth and the general public.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.
