Seasonal Tours

Horticulture Walking Tour with the Conservancy staff

Join the horticulture staff for a free garden walk through the Greenway Parks explaining what’s growing, and how, in Boston’s largest organically-maintained park.  Previous topics have included: Edibles on the Greenway, Native Plants and Managing the Garden Organically. Approx. 1 hour. Free. (Tours occur Spring, Summer, and Fall – see our Events calendar.) 

The Rose Kennedy Greenway Walking Tour with Boston By Foot

Discover the story of the Boston’s newest urban park that connects people and places once divided by an elevated highway.  Learn the history of the neighborhoods that once occupied this space and the present day urban planning that is knitting Boston back together.  Approx. 1.5 hours.  $10 per person. (Tours occur Spring, Summer, and Fall –see our Events calendar.)

The Conservancy can customize talks and tours for groups of 10 or more. 

Rose’s Life Walking Tour with the Boston Women’s Heritage Trail

Walk a mile in her shoes!  Winding through the North End of Boston and including parts of the Greenway, this tour through Rose’s life is a great opportunity for park visitors to learn more about Boston’s rich history and the life of the person for whom the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway is named.  The Conservancy will help coordinate this tour with our partners at the Boston Women’s Heritage Trail. Greening the Heart of Boston Walking Tour with the Conservancy staff

Calling all garden clubs, community groups and budding horticulturalists!  Join our staff for an in-depth look at the unique architectural features and horticultural plantings of the Greenway.  Learn about the unique challenges of organic landscaping above highway tunnel, and in an urban environment.  We will work with you to customize a tour to accommodate your schedule and particular interests. To schedule, please contact programs@rosekennedygreenway.org

Greening the Heart of Boston Presentation with the Conservancy staff

Let us come to you!  Learn firsthand from the Superintendant of Horticulture and/or the Director of Planning & Design about one of the largest green roofs in the country.  Topics include an introduction to the park planning process, an overview of the diverse designs and plantings of the Greenway parks, sustainable landscape management practices and the Conservancy’s role in managing the Greenway.  This is an indoor lecture at your site.
