Gifts of Securities

Stocks and bonds are, next to cash, the most popular way of making a gift. Gifts of securities can be one of the most advantageous ways of giving. If your gift of stock is one you have owned for more than a year, you may qualify to deduct the full market value of the stock as a charitable contribution, while bypassing capital gains taxes.

For instructions on donating gifts of securities, please review our Stock Gift Transfer Instructions

To ensure that you receive proper credit, please contact or instruct your broker to contact us at development@rosekennedygreenway.org with the details of the transaction.

All gifts of securities must be received in The Greenway's account by Friday, December 29, 2017 to qualify for a 2017 tax deduction.

IRA Rollover Gifts

A charitable gift rollover from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) is a terrific option to make a tax-effective gift to The Greenway!

The IRA Charitable Rollover Act permits people age 70½ or older to make tax-free gifts of up to $100,000 directly from their IRAs to nonprofit organizations like The Greenway. If you make your gift by December 31, 2017, you can count the gift as part of your minimum distribution for 2017.

Detailed information including a sample letter to send to your IRA administrator can be found here.

More about EarthShare

For twenty years EarthShare and its affiliates have worked with national and local environmentally-oriented nonprofits to focus attention and funding on those issues that are so important to all of us. EarthShare New England (ESNE) offers employers and employees an easy and effective way to contribute to its 90 member organizations (including the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy) that work every day as stewards of our planet. We do it through employee charitable giving campaigns, where employees voluntarily donate through payroll contributions - the easiest and most-cost effective ways of raising money for your favorite native environmental and conservation organizations.

Visit the EarthShare of New England website for information on how to join or start a workplace giving campaign.
