Horticulture Projects

Details

Many of our volunteers know and love our parks—as their front yard, their lunch-time escape, or a place to relax on the weekends—and they want to make a difference right on the ground. Do you love gardening or want to work with your hands in the park? Are you looking for an opportunity to get outside and do some good for your community? Come join us for a Horticulture project!

What to Expect

Horticulture projects run monthly from mid-March to December on weekday mornings from 9:00a-12:00p.  You will be working with a group of other volunteers doing common gardening tasks such as weeding, raking, mulching, planting, and pruning. No previous experience necessary!

The project locations are based on current park needs and may occur anywhere along The Greenway; we send updates to the signed up volunteers several days prior to the project. Don’t forget to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and closed toed shoes! You will also be asked to sign a waiver before you get started. All training, tools, water and a snack will be provided by our staff!

Maintaining our park organically takes a lot of helping hands and horticulture workdays are a great way to make a visible contribution to The Greenway! If you’re interested in learning more and signing up for a project, please email [email protected]nedygreenway.org.
