Celebrating National Book Month on The Greenway

29, Oct, 2019

One of the most popular activities in any public park is reading outside and The Greenway is no exception. With cooler weather and vibrant foliage spread through park, October is the perfect time to plop down on one of our lush lawns and unwind with a book. This month, celebrate National Book Month with some of your favorite pages on The Greenway.

The Greenway is home to three separate Little Free Libraries. These miniature libraries are  “‘take a book, return a book” free book exchanges. If you see them, be sure to browse the collection or donate a book you think someone else would love! Our libraries live in Chin Park, the Wharf District, and the Carolyn Lynch Garden on The Greenway.

In 2014, we rolled out a one-of-a-kind Uni Read mobile library. This portable reading room showcased a selection of books that are available for children and families to read on-site, exploring books pertaining to art, neighborhoods, Chinese language, and the natural world. The Uni Read has been moved inside for the year, but make sure to look for it at future Chin Park Play Sessions.

This National Book Month, we invite you to unwind on The Greenway with your favorite book for a day of reading in our picturesque parks.
