Before and After by the Maintenance Team

27, Jun, 2014 Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy

Everyone loves a good before and after photo. From home remodels, to personal fitness transformations, there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing the bookends of a completed project. Thanks to a lot of hard work by the maintenance team (and some great iphone photos), we’re pleased to share the Greenway’s latest mini-makeovers!

Repaired Ramp on NW Corner of Parcel 10 (North End Parks)

Concretebeforeafter

For this project, Bruce, the Greenway’s Maintenance Mason, cut out all the loose and broken concrete around this handicap ramp. He also had to cut out and taper some of the good concrete to create an area that allowed the new concrete patch to be thick enough in all spots to minimize or prevent cracking of the new patch.

Fixed Leak in the Chinatown Fountain

These repairs were completed recently by Bruce, Eno, and Vic. They will continue to make repairs to the fountain in the fall. Lookin’ good!

Bench Repair in Armenian Heritage Park

BeforeAfterBench

StepbyStepBenches

For this undertaking, Tom and the team spent many tedious hours of welding, grinding, priming and painting. In the end the repair is seamless!

Some of these issues are small, maybe even invisible to most visitors in the park, but it’s projects like these that make me feel the most proud to work for the Greenway. The Conservancy sets a very high bar for park care and no detail is ever overlooked!

If you’re in the process of raising your own bar through improvements, self or otherwise, feel free to share your before and after pictures with us! Send via twitter @hellogreenwayFacebook or on Instagram #RKGbeforeafter

See you on the Greenway!
