Summary
The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, the non-profit responsible for the management and care of The Greenway, is seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual to join our team as the Programs Coordinator. The Programs Coordinator will assist in organizing, permitting, managing, and executing the Conservancy’s robust programming calendar and is instrumental in building and growing partnerships with event organizers.
Millions visit The Greenway each year for community events, local markets, unique food truck meals, beautiful horticulture, and engaging art. The Programs team works very closely with all Conservancy team members to ensure an outstanding visitor experience. The Conservancy’s programming approach is to host partner events, allowing us to work with a wide range of community groups and small businesses to bring hundreds of relevant and authentic events to the public. The Greenway hosts 400+ events and programs annually, including Chinatown Main Street Summer Festival, Films at the Gate, Boston Local Food Festival, and over 200 free fitness classes. Daily visitors enjoy the Greenway Carousel, distinctive food vendors, and outdoor beer gardens.

Responsibilities
- Be the main point of communication for several programmatic series and events. Areas of responsibility will be determined based on candidate experience and in collaboration with the team and may include events such as the 9/11 Service Event, Boston Local Food Festival, Chinatown events, and other neighborhood events/festivals.
- Manage the Conservancy fitness program including the Request for Proposals process, orientation, and sponsor(s) relationships.
- Lead additional programs and festivals as assigned. This includes explaining the event planning process to new partners, assisting with permitting and fees, layouts, compliance, marketing and scheduling, ongoing communication, and event staffing.
- Provide on-site support for Conservancy and third party events, such as festivals, promotions/sampling events, and filmings and photo shoots as needed, including set-up and tear-down on-site.
- Work outdoors and perform physical tasks, such as carrying and setting up 10×10 tents, using tent weights, moving furniture, etc.,
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills, and responsible and respectful conduct with all individuals, such as the public, guests, event partners, etc.
- Oversee a range of programmatic logistics, including Little Free Libraries, signage placement, and equipment ordering.
- Assist in oversight and tracking of event proposals, fee payments, and event attendance.
- Learn and promote adherence to the Park Use Guidelines and Park Rules, both in event planning processes and in the park, balancing park needs with event needs.
- Other duties as assigned related to the Conservancy’s mission or to support partners or stakeholders.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working at or studying in a related field, including nonprofit programming or event management.
- Proven track record of

- Demonstrated skill in creative problem-solving, can-do attitude, and staying calm under pressure.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Bilingual skills a plus, especially in Chinese languages given our programs in the Chinatown neighborhood.
- Computer proficiency, especially in Google for Work (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) and Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather, position self close to the ground for tasks such as installing signage or laying decals, remain in a stationary position for periods of time, and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed for event oversight.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive Conservancy vehicles in downtown Boston to move event supplies. Vehicle training will be provided.
- The accepted candidate will be required to have a successful completion of a CORI and motor vehicle background check.

Logistics
- This is a full time (40 hours a week) position with full benefits.
- This is a hybrid position with the option to work remotely two days a week if the work allows.
- Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, but a significant amount of weekend and evening work is needed between April and October to be present at events and programs. Comparable time off within the pay period or overtime pay (with prior approval) will be provided.
- Work will generally take place indoors in the office, but the position will require a significant amount of time in the parks, especially between April and October, in all weather conditions. Branded work gear including rain and winter outfitting is provided.
Compensation
Salary Range: $50,000-$52,000 annually.
