Stonework at North End Park Fountains

When Columbus Day weekend drew to a close a few weeks back, we turned off our fountains at the North End, Rings and Chinatown locations for the season. We then started work on a number of projects, including resetting of the cap stones along the edge of the fountain in the North End park south of Hanover Street.

The cap stones had “heaved” in the last year, so we had a stone and masonry specialist remove the stones, remove all of the cracked and broken mortar, and then applied a fresh coating of mortar and remounted the stones so everything is level and watertight.  We’re continuing to work to reseal joints and reset smaller stones in the North End Parks.
