Dewey Demonstration Gardens: Pollinator Garden
To learn more about the four-season interest garden planned for Dewey Square Park, we stopped by to talk with Darrah, a member of our horticulture team at the conservancy.
Dewey Demonstration Garden Takes Root
Despite the on-again, off-again coming of spring, the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy is continuing efforts to enhance the west garden beds of Dewey Square Park. This work, started last year, but delayed in the fall, builds on our existing practice of organic landscape management. We’ll be telling the story over the next few months as […]
What’s in Bloom
The next few weeks of spring will bring a burst of brightly colored blooms to the parks. Our daffodils are already blooming and the Cherry Trees are full of stunning pink flowers.
What’s in Bloom
Our spring cleanups have begun and we already have to tread lightly over the fragile bulb foliage coming up under foot. Our whole staff is looking forward to the display this spring, with 10 different varieties of alliums, drifts of daffodils and crocus, and a number of other bulbs planted in our parks.
What’s In Bloom
As an unusually warm winter persists, we are beginning to see some of the shorter-term effects that the balmy weather is taking on our plants along the Greenway. We have noticed very early flowering times, bulb emergence, and bud swelling.
Growing Greener with Green & Grow
Green & Grow participants learn an eco-friendly alternative to discarding our organic waste in landfills by taking part in a hands-on workshop, where they brewed their own compost tea with the help of Greenway Horticulture staff.
What’s In Bloom
Enjoy the silhouettes of our bare deciduous trees and shrubs, the waxy leaves and slender needles of our Evergreens, colors of foliage and bark left in the landscape, buds of spring growth waiting to emerge, and seed-bearing structures of all kinds.
What’s in Bloom
We have enjoyed an unseasonably warm fall as we continue our work out in the parks, but the winter chill has begun to descend upon us. As the very last autumn leaves fall the evergreen trees and shrubs are becoming the focal point.
What’s in Bloom
As the last full month of fall draws to a close, our deciduous trees are almost completely bare and we are working to prepare the garden beds for winter by cutting back perennials and cleaning up the fallen leaves. Take advantage of these beautiful days by getting outside to admire the changing landscape.
What’s in Bloom
The Greenway is still ablaze with vibrant fall colors, so don’t delay in coming to take an autumn stroll through the parks.
