Help us welcome Trumpet Flowers to Dewey Square on The Greenway this winter! We’re so excited to share this interactive winter installation with our community, bringing bright lights, bold color, and music to the square throughout the season.

Presented in partnership with the Downtown Boston Alliance as part of their annual WINTERACTIVE exhibition, Trumpet Flowers adds a fresh burst of energy to downtown Boston during the winter months. Whether you’re passing through on your commute, meeting friends nearby, or carving out time for a winter walk, the installation invites you to slow down, take it in, and enjoy a little moment of delight along The Greenway.

Step Into the Experience

These towering “flowers” are anything but ordinary. Inspired by the shape of a gramophone, each bloom lights up the square and comes to life with sound. Visitors are invited to step onto the interactive platform and explore the unique brass melodies each flower produces—mixing, matching, and creating your own playful symphony as you move through the installation.

And here’s a special treat: every half hour, the flowers put on a full light and music show, bursting into song as a complete brass band performance. It’s one of those unforgettable experiences that invites you to pause, marvel, and maybe even dance a little.

Designed to Delight

Trumpet Flowers was created by design studio Amigo & Amigo, known for their imaginative interactive installations that spark curiosity, joy, and connection. Their work turns public spaces into playful, memorable experiences—and this installation is no exception.

Part of WINTERACTIVE 2026

This installation is one of many exciting displays across Boston as part of the Downtown Boston Alliance’s WINTERACTIVE 2026 exhibition. From glowing winter scenes to interactive installations throughout the city, WINTERACTIVE brings a little extra magic to Boston’s streets, plazas, and parks during the colder months.
