Position Description

The Greenway Conservancy, the non-profit responsible for the management and care of The Greenway, is seeking a creative and motivated individual to join our team as a Multimedia Communications Intern. This role is designed for an emerging storyteller interested in producing engaging multimedia content that captures the energy, beauty, and community of one of Boston’s most vibrant public spaces.

This internship is highly production-focused. The Multimedia Communications Intern will create short-form video, photography, audio, and supporting graphics that bring Greenway experiences to life across social media and digital platforms. Working closely with the Outreach team, the Intern will help translate everyday park moments – from public art and horticulture to events and visitor experiences – into compelling digital storytelling that builds connection and expands our reach organically.

Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Storytelling 

  • Produce short-form video content (Reels, Shorts, Stories) that captures life on The Greenway, including events, public art, landscapes, and behind-the-scenes operations.
  • Capture and edit photography for social media, web, and digital storytelling.
  • Record and edit audio for use in videos, interviews, and ambient storytelling.
  • Assist in developing creative concepts that align with seasonal programming, trends, and audience interests.
  • Conduct on-site content capture, including live event coverage and spontaneous park moments.

Editing & Post-Production

  • Edit video and audio content optimized for platform-specific formats and accessibility.
  • Create supporting graphics, captions, and visual assets to accompany multimedia posts.
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand voice, tone, and visual identity.

Digital Publishing & Collaboration

  • Contribute to the social media content calendar with ideas rooted in visual storytelling and timely trends.
  • Assist with blog content through light writing, interviews, and multimedia integration.
  • Prepare and schedule content across platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Support website updates and multimedia integration as needed.

Creative Operations Support

  • Maintain organized digital asset libraries including photo, video, and audio files.
  • Assist with documenting Conservancy initiatives, installations, and seasonal changes.
  • Research creative approaches to deepen engagement and reflect the diversity of Greenway visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Outreach department. 

Skills and Qualifications:

Required

  • Entry level position for a person 18 years or older. 21+ preferred for events where alcohol is served, such as Gala on The Greenway.
  • Demonstrated interest in multimedia storytelling, digital media, or creative production.
  • Experience creating content for social platforms (personal, academic, or professional).
  • Strong visual instincts and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Comfort working outdoors and engaging with the public while capturing content.
  • Cross-cultural awareness and enthusiasm for inclusive storytelling.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather as needed to capture photo and video content.

Preferred

  • Experience with photography, video production, and/or audio recording.
  • Familiarity with editing tools such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Audition, or similar software.
  • Ability to shoot using a mobile device, mirrorless, or DSLR camera. (Camera equipment provided).
  • Interest in public space, urban landscapes, environmental stewardship, or arts and culture.
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates – especially Spanish, Mandarin, or Haitian Creole – are encouraged to apply.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive Conservancy vehicles in downtown Boston to support content capture and event logistics.
  • We strongly encourage all incoming employees to be COVID-19 vaccinated.

Logistics

  • Full-time position, up to 40 hours/week, for approximately 10–15 weeks, ideally beginning in May.
  • Schedule is generally Monday – Friday; some evening and weekend hours will be required with advance notice.
  • Work will take place both indoors and throughout The Greenway.
  • We are happy to coordinate with colleges/universities to provide academic credit if desired.
  • Greenway branded uniforms will be provided for outdoor work and event days, while indoor office attire is business casual.

Compensation and Benefits

  • This is a paid position with sick time benefits. Compensation will be $19.25/hour. 
  • Three to four (3-4) paid holidays depending on start and end dates.
