A Welcome in Many Languages: New 2026 Banners Arrive on The Greenway

This season, visitors to The Greenway will be greeted with a simple yet powerful message: Welcome.

Our new 2026 light pole banner campaign celebrates the many people, cultures, and stories that make Boston—and The Greenway—such a vibrant public space. Installed throughout the park, this year’s banners feature the word “Welcome” in 13 languages, creating a visual expression of hospitality and belonging for everyone who visits.

This summer, Boston will welcome millions of people from around the world for major global events, including the FIFA World Cup, USA250, and Tall Ships. As a park situated right in the heart of downtown, connecting neighborhoods, communities, and visitors through vibrant green space, free public programming, beautiful organic horticulture, and so much more, The Greenway is uniquely positioned to help greet the world.

Our 2026 banners do exactly that.

A Global Welcome, Rooted in Boston

The banner series includes “Welcome” in languages that reflect both the international teams competing in Boston during the World Cup and the rich linguistic diversity of our own city:

  • English
  • Akan
  • Arabic
  • French
  • Haitian Creole
  • Hindi
  • Italian
  • Korean
  • Mandarin
  • Norwegian
  • Spanish
  • Tagalog
  • Vietnamese

Together, these languages represent just a small portion of the many communities that shape life in Boston and the visitors who will experience the city this year.

Designing a Park That Feels Open to Everyone

At The Greenway, we strive to create a park that feels welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to all. This year’s light pole banners are a reflection of that commitment. By incorporating multiple languages into the park’s visual identity, we hope to celebrate cultural connection, honor the diversity of our city, and create moments of recognition for people who see their language represented in the landscape.

Whether you live in Boston, are visiting for a major event, or are discovering The Greenway for the first time, we want the park to feel like a place for you.
